Curly Hair
Hair has got many shape and texture like straight hair, curly hair, wavy hair etc. The number of disulfide bonds between hair proteins found in the hair shaft decides shape of the hair. Curly hair has greater number of links while the straight hair got lesser number of links. Hair is composed of protein called keratin, which grows from a sac called the follicle. Hair follicles have got cells that generate keratin and other proteins. Protein produced by hair follicles contains sulfur atoms, a disulfide bond is formed when two of these sulfur atoms pair up and bond. The protein will bend if the two sulfur atoms in the same protein at a distance join to form disulfide bond.
The degree of curliness or of straightness of hair also depends upon the amount humidity in the air. Hair shaft returns to its original structure when the humidity forces water back in the hair fiber. Curly hair can be turned to straight hair but only temporarily. This can be done chemically. The effect is temporary because the new hair grows and the chemically straightened hair grows out. Hair needs a lot of moisture so especially curly, fizzy and chemically treated hair. Avoid using heat styling products on curly and dry hair because they are more fragile than the straight hair. Let your curly hair air-dry as much as possible to avoid them avoid them from breaking.
